One of my favourite pieces is the Alexis dress, I’m really drawn to its flattering length, which hits me on the mid-calf (I’m 170cm tall). This style gives me good coverage without feeling too long or heavy. Little tucks on the sleeves add a lovely structure and remind me of 40’s glam. Alexis is a functioning wrap, which means that I can play with different ways of tying her and pocket details make for a lovely mix between polished yet casual.
LET'S LOOK AT THE MAGIC OF MAGENTA
A combination of red and violet, magenta is all about passion and power. With the energy of red, restrained by the introspection and quiet energy of violet, she's the colour that makes you stand out without being overstated.
Paired back with black, navy or a great print, she will have you looking like the modern maven with confidence who knows her style.
With research showing that colours can greatly affect our moods and amazingly can even change our heart rate, blood pressure and respiration, taking the power of colour into our everyday lifestyle can become an absolute game-changer.
We look at the 3 steps to embracing this colour in your own wardrobe and how to own it with style!
1. MENTALLY CHOOSE THE SHIFT
A subtle shift in our behaviour such as our wardrobe can have quite a dramatic effect for a more confident and charismatic you, however this is a shift that you need to consciously make.
Those who already embrace bold colours will understand the charisma and confidence that comes with it.
Consciously make the decision and put your brave foot forward to start the journey.
2. LET YOUR COLOUR BE YOUR INTENT
Magenta is a great bold colour to start with. This is the universal colour of harmony, self-love and represents transformation.
According to Colour Psychology, this majestic hue is said to promote cooperation and encourages a sense of self-respect and contentment in those who wear it - aligning perfectly for your valentines step into the colour wheel.
This beautiful hue is also said to evoke emotions of compassion, support, and kindness and we all need a little more of that in our everyday lives.
Choose your colour that represents your intent.
3. START YOUR JOURNEY TO CONFIDENCE - BABY STEPS... OR NOT!
If you’re not used to wearing bold colours and would like to start and transition your wardrobe to find a newly formed confidence, ease into it.
Start by choosing a bright top and pair back with a plain navy/black pant or skirt.
Alternatively, a bold dress with a simple heel and plain accessories will have you easing into a space that you may not be used to but will learn to embrace very quickly.
If you are feeling a little more confident, mix up your magenta pieces with your favourite prints and accessories.

We sat down with model Caitlin Robertson for an incredible conversation about body confidence, self-love and working in the fashion industry. Caitlin has been a model with us for almost two years and has been featured across our website campaigns, Facebook lives and has been a part of our recent challenge to Australian Luxury brands to increase their size range offering to better reflect the average Australian woman.
From empowering body confidence, experiences in the industry, and future motivations, here are our key takeaways from our conversation with Caitlin.
Say yes to everything, even if it scares you! Caitlin told us a key factor in her journey to becoming a successful model was saying yes to every opportunity thrown her way. Life is all about stepping outside of your comfort zone into the unknown; it’s where you will make the biggest strides and learn the best lessons.
In a recent personal discovery, Caitlin made the realisation that she was defining herself by her curves. In the past, Caitlin had ‘Curve Model’ in her Instagram bio, but she has recently adjusted this to say ‘Model With Curves’. It came to her one day that she isn’t a model because she has curves, she is a model because she is beautiful; her curves are not her defining feature. This was a very empowering realisation for Caitlin and one that she hopes many other women experience.
Confidence in photos is something most women struggle with. We are too quick to pick apart details of ourselves that no one else would ever notice. We asked Caitlin for her advice on how to overcome this adversity women have with photos and her response was very impactful.
Caitlin recommends that every woman should do ‘mirror work’. This is where you sit in front of the mirror, wear something that makes you feel beautiful, look yourself in the eyes and spend time taking in how extraordinary you really are. It’s a time to tell yourself positive affirmations and to not allow yourself to think any of those negative thoughts that might instinctively flood your brain.
Skip to 18:00 minutes in the conversation to see an example of Caitlin and Leina working through this together.
Place your hand on your heart, look yourself in the eyes and tell yourself:
Say the things that you never say to yourself. Say the things you tell your friends all the time but forget that you need to hear them too.

]]>Melissa Jane Doyle needs no introduction in most circles, being a celebrated Australian television presenter from Sunrise, author, journalist and most recently, a podcaster.
Mel's latest project, the podcast Age Against the Machine is where she tackles the taboo topic of ageing women with her friend Naima Brown and special guests.
The 51-year-old mother-of-two said she started the podcast to probe why some women start to feel “invisible” as they get older.
“In a workplace when a major company is downsizing, it’s women over 50 that’s the first group to go, the fastest group of homelessness in Australia is women over 50, women retire with just over half of the superannuation as men,” she pointed out.
“We were fascinated to find out why does this happen to women as they get older and what are the things we can potentially do to change the conversation and raise a little awareness.”
So she connects with women from different cultures to learn about how growing older can mean forging deeper connections (New Zealand), getting more power (Ghana), more opportunities (Finland) and sometimes more plastic surgery (South Korea). They discuss everything from menopause to sex, political representation to financial security. They find out how to Age Against the Machine.
This podcast is incredibly relevant, speaking of topics generally not spoken about in many circles of women which makes it even more important, bringing another evolving stage of life into the light as something to celebrate, not commiserate.
We are very lucky to have Mel come online and join us to discuss the podcast and also her own journey around this subject.

We caught up with the wonderful Amanda Ramsay to chat about all things beauty and to get her hot tips on quick, fuss-free makeup ideas for women over 35. From the importance of prepping your skin to accessorising with lipstick, watch the video below for Amanda’s tips on how to add some sparkle to your life.
With so many of us juggling home and work life at the moment along with endless zoom meetings, creating an easy 5 step routine for your makeup will keep you looking fresh and put a bit of pep in your step.
Hydration is key to having your makeup last all day. Mist a hydrating toner over your face throughout the day to keep your makeup looking fresh.
Face oils are that little bit of luxury your skin needs right now. Massage over your face and decolletage to create a soft base for your makeup to sit on top of. If you prefer a creamy moisturiser, stick with that. And don’t forget your SPF!
Amanda recommends to use the Clemence Organics Tone + Hydrate Spritz, and the Mohi Everlasting Facial Elixir.
Cream shadows work well as a base for your powder shadow or you can wear them alone. Blend up to your brow bone for a soft look.
Mascara should be applied from the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand as you coat the lash from root to tip. Applying from the base creates an illusion of wearing eyeliner. For extra lift and pizazz, curl your lashes before applying mascara.
Your eyebrows frame your face so we definitely don’t want to neglect them. So many of us have missed appointments with the esthetician and our brows may be looking a little worse for wear. Skip the pencil and use a brow product that has a gel base. It adds a temporary tint to your brows and creates definition whilst keeping the hairs in place.
Check out the Mii Eye Cream, Inika Long Lash Mascara, and Mii Sculpting Brow Builder used in the video.

Foundation is the key product for evening out skin tone and adding a soft dewy finish to your skin. If you prefer a lighter coverage, thin your foundation with a moisturiser or face oil. Apply a thin layer all over your face and then layer your foundation on areas where you want a little extra coverage. For a fuller all-over coverage, use a brush or sponge for application.
Amanda recommends to use the Rageism All Day Foundation with the Makeup Weapons Foundation Brush.
The majority of us can relate to the au naturale flushed-cheek look, but when you want to have a little more control over the colour of your cheeks opt for a cream blush. Cream blush blends beautifully into your skin so that the colour looks natural. Apply to either the apples of your cheeks or across your cheek bone.
Try the luxe Ere Perez Cream Blush recommended by Amanda.

Dab any extra cheek tint that’s on your fingers onto your lips for a soft pout. Accessorise with lipstick by adding some bold colour. Go boss-lady red or a bright summer coral. Add some shimmer with a gloss if that’s your kind of thing.
Amanda recommends to use the Rageism Lipgloss.
The key to doing your makeup in 10 minutes or less is having a few staple products that you can count on. Find your favourite products, implement these 5 steps, and you’ll have your very own simple makeup routine that can help put a pep in your step. We hope these tips have helped you to find your sparkle in these times of challenge.

Whether we feel cheerful, sad, or frustrated, listening to music can completely change our mood and transcend us to our 'happy place'.
Music releases a chemical in your brain called dopamine, which improves your mood and reduces your anxiety. It can also help produce the stress-reducing hormone cortisol, so it induces pleasure, joy and motivation. Music also boosts your immune system and can create positive emotional experiences — it even helps relieve pain.
Nothing has as much power as a fun and upbeat song that can transform any task into a fun scene worthy of a film montage.
Here at L&F, we love listening to music in the office - in our car on the way to work, and some of us even love listening to our team Playlist while we are in lockdown. It helps us feel connected to each other and makes the day so much more fun.
We have put together a 'Brighten Your Day' Playlist - and you can listen to it with us on Spotify. Let's all get up and dance together to some happy tunes.
Finding a way to get the maximum wear out of your favourite L&F pieces by creating adaptable and flexible looks will give you more options for all of the events in your life. With todays’ busy lifestyles, being able to gain the most from your wardrobe is incredibly important from an ROI aspect for your wallet and an ease of wear element to save you both time and fuss. These pieces need to translate into your lifestyle reflecting your style, and should be able to be edited based on your day to day routine with effortless versatility.
Keep reading to see our tips on how to simplify your life with versatile styling options.
Knee-length boots and a loose pony give a soft feel to your working style. You can create a skirt and top effect by pairing our Eli Belt with the Allesi Dress. Breaking up the block colours with tan accessories softens your look but doesn’t diminish any boss lady vibes.
Transforming your look from day to night can be as simple as changing up your shoes or accessories. Take your work look to evening style with a bold lip, flirty tights and a black heel and you’ll be ready for date night in a flash.
Farm life can be chic and comfortable. Our Diaz Pant has incredible 4-way stretch technology which allows you to bend and move with ease. If unexpected guests arrive for lunch, effortlessly modify your look by switching out your boots for tan flats and tying your hair back into a low bun.
A denim jacket and tan boots adds a casual and comfortable touch to your look. Add a printed scarf layered to a block-colour dress for a fresh and relaxed feel. Take your weekend style into the work week with tights, black boots and a sleek up-do.
We like to think we're pretty calm and collected her at L&F but there is one conversation that keeps on making our blood boil…. SIZING!!!
The last two newsletters from Ragtrader have had insights by key industry players and influencers giving the run down on luxury trends and who are the must-see labels at Fashion Week this year.
Running through the list of labels, once again, there is one thing missing in the luxury clothing category… anything over a size 16. The bulk of the labels only offer up to a size 14 and even then the measurements are skewed to in reality be much smaller. Does this mean that luxury for a woman over size 14 may only include accessories? After all the changes we have seen in the Fashion Industry in regards to size diversity it is still not a reality. High end brands still refuse to see or accept that the average size Australian woman is a size 14/16. If they did, surely there would be a balance on either side of this size?
A conversation had with a friend many years ago who is a size 18/20, broke our hearts and she’s not alone in this story. It is one we have heard so many times from our customers. The experience of shopping with friends. Heading into boutiques and simply making an a-line to the accessories as she already knew there would be nothing in her size on offer in clothing and if there was it would be in a special section for plus-size. Not part of the main section of the store, not really invited to be there. The irony is that this friend is one of the most successful and high earning women that we know… so WHY is she not recognised as the amazing customer and woman that she is…
The stores blame the labels for not offering more sizes but we call bullshit, it goes both ways. The retailers also refuse to purchase the extended size range. So who is to blame here? We’ve got an idea but it totally frustrates us to see leading Australian Fashion brands & retailers continue to disregard inclusive size ranges. We don’t want to freak you out, but PRESS ALERT women of all sizes are beautiful, relevant and cool.
In a society where we see girls and women, of all ages struggling with eating disorders, why is this size exclusion still ok? The rest of society is moving on and accepting body positivity and diversity but the Fashion Industry keeps retreating back to an age of inappropriate representation of how success is defined through a size tag. Can we please move on??
If we want to see change, we have to make it. Wake up peeps!!!

"Brand" is one of those words that gets tossed around a lot these days—so much that it may have lost some of its meaning. When it comes to your style, however, it's important that you put the power back in this word so that you can reap the rewards of having a distinctive business image. Let’s look at 3 steps on how to build your personal brand.
Everyone has a brand, but some people have a brand that’s more clearly defined than others. One shining example of a personal brand is the way you dress: your style brand. Think of your style brand as a set of defining characteristics that make your sense of fashion identifiable.
Your style brand is a natural extension of your personal brand: the features and qualities that make you, you.
Your style brand should embody the qualities that make you who you are, whatever those qualities are. Your brand could speak to strength and romance, power and playfulness or openness and elegance. You can see that your style brand doesn't have to be one-dimensional—you're allowed to embrace all the paradoxes that make you who you are—but it does have to be consistent.
The easiest way to figure out your personal brand is to be authentic. Embrace being you, tap into your strengths and personal preferences. If you’re drown to print and colour, incorporate it into your work wardrobe and make it your trademark.
Become a master of personal branding, use your wardrobe to create a story around what you do and amplify who you are. Choosing the right cut and shape can influence not only how others perceive us, but also how we see ourselves.
Your career capsule wardrobe is your go-to collection of items that you love. They are the key, versatile pieces in your wardrobe that you can keep in rotation, to be worn day-in and day-out and inevitably give you the ultimate return on investment. Choose classic designs over fleeting fashion and this will ensure the longevity with your capsule.
Start your career capsule with high quality bottoms. These will be your foundation pieces that you can mix, match and repeat. This will cement your style type and also save you time every day when getting ready.
Whatever your work environment, there’s a certain level of refinement that comes from well-tailored pieces. Look the part in sleek tops and blouses as comfortable as they are composed.
Confidence is what can help you get the life and career you want, so be sure that every piece in your wardrobe shapes and informs your personal style brand, whatever that may be. A person with a consistent brand—and by extension, style brand—appears more pulled-together and self-assured.
A consistent personal brand is linked to confidence, and in all areas of your life, confidence is key.
LET'S FIND THE PRINT TO MATCH YOUR PERSONALITY! Whether it's a dress, a top, a jacket or a bottom, print pieces breathe fresh life into your look—all without you having to stray from the cuts and colours you love.
]]>LET'S FIND THE PRINT TO MATCH YOUR PERSONALITY!
Whether it's a dress, a top, a jacket or a bottom, print pieces breathe fresh life into your look—all without you having to stray from the cuts and colours you love.
Prints speak to not only what you like, but who you are.
Of course, prints can speak louder to some people than others. That's why we're going to help you find the print (or prints!) that match your personality so you can infuse your wardrobe with more colour, dimension and most importantly, more YOU!
If you have been a little shy of the "Print", we strongly encourage you to lean out of your comfort zone and dip your toe into the water. Our suggestion, start with a simple top and maybe a microprint!
Print categories can cross over with designs being within dimensions and colours which makes them even more fabulous to play with. Below, we discuss just a few of the print options - and what they say about you.
Find the Print for Your Personality
What it says about you: If you sway towards fine prints, you are all about attention to detail (a commendable attribute and one you may have used on a resume in the past). With these prints – generally repetitive in nature and minimal in size – they make an understated yet maximum impact of the overall end design of the garment.
"For me personally micro prints give the illusion of a block colour from a distance but when up close they show a bit more personality. Pepper is my sort of print. Being a brown eyed, brown haired girl earthy colours compliment my skin and hair tones. Our Darci Dress in Pepper is my choice"
~ KAREN - OFFICE MANAGER
What it says about you: Animal print says you're timeless, bold and playful. This is a print that looks incredible on anyone of any age. If you're drawn to this wild and wonderful print but don't want to don a full dress right away, try on a gorgeous animal print jacket or top with a solid colour base. This allows you to ease into feeling the power of this print.
What it says about you: Featuring colours with a single base hue, monochromatic prints speak to pure elegance. Depending on the size and style of the print, this elegance can trend toward a relaxed or a more formal look; but regardless, monochromatic prints showcase your sophistication.
What it says about you: Large and small, regardless of the scale, if you love floral prints, you're likely a romantic at heart and a dreamer. And because you're an idealist, you are also a bit of a visionary, seeing possibilities that other people can't. These prints are classic and look stunning in all seasons, giving you the opportunity to flaunt florals at any time.
What it says about you: Big, beautiful prints affirm an openness and generosity of spirit. On a styling note, they are also among the most flattering prints, which is why you'll see so many people wear them on television.
I feel like the life of the party in Edie in Fiesta - a little red fire cracker. This print is bold and beautiful but not overstated. I like wearing the prints that everyone wants to wear but something holds them back. My advice is:- wear it, be bold, be beautiful, be brave. Be that lady that you admire at a party. You wont regret it.

What Your Favourite Prints Say About You - whatever print you love, be sure to wear it unapologetically and with confidence. After all, confidence is the cornerstone of style which is why it’s so important to wear what makes you feel incredible if you want to look as incredible as you really are.
In the world of women's fashion, there's a noticeable gap between the short and sassy style of your 20s to the caricatured elderly attire that is seldom seen beyond sitcoms.
"Bust out your measuring tape and take your measurements. Don't be shy: they're just numbers, and they can't measure your beauty or worth"
The truth is exploring fashion in your 40s can be a liberating, transformative experience for women looking for change. And for the women who are happy with the style that's carried them through their 30s? A little more exploration will only serve to cultivate your style further.
With a little age comes the wisdom to know that, whether it be relationships or clothing, it's more important to have a handful of good quality things than a boatload of shoddy things.
For this reason, many women in their forties switch clothing brands to designers who create lasting pieces in terms of style as well as the more practical matter of longevity. We are drawn to pieces that will look as good in a few years as they do now, not just because the design is timeless, but because the clothing is well-made.
Once you have your measurements, you can start building your wardrobe with those vital foundational pieces. Think pants, skirts, tops and that go-to little black dress. Aim to find these pieces in block colours—any colours that speak to you.
Knowing your s is all about discovering what you truly like, and also, what works for you. This means understanding your body shape and respecting your comfort level. Ask yourself, how, if at all, has your body changed? How can you make your curves and new lines work?
The point is this: embrace your body! Don't fight it! This is the new you and being able to not just accept, but celebrate these changes is going to serve you well now as well as into your 50s, 60s and beyond.

In this new age, working from home is the new norm and with online Zoom meetings now regular occurrences, finding flattering and video friendly professional tops for work can feel like a full time job — but it doesn’t have to be this way. We’re going to show you how to find gorgeous tops that you’ll be able to wear in virtual meetings and your in-the-flesh professional and personal life.
Our jersey tops in particular are perfect Zoom shirts as they are super comfortable to wear while sitting, and are matte in colour, so they won't reflect light onto the screen. You want your style to be stunning, sure, not distracting.
A splash of colour can set the mood for the meeting and dressing in colours that make you feel happy will help you be more confident. A bright colour will add cheer, and prints can be a great way to add interest, especially if you are in front of a blank wall.
A top with a sleeve will help keep the focus on your face, while nothing too fitted or structured with a bit of stretch is perfect for comfort and style.

Make sure the neck line isn't too low cleavage can be distracting, as can bra straps. A deep V-neck has its place; it’s just not on a professional call.
Have a few Zoom shirts ready to go that you can grab and wear so you can look nice and polished from the waist up. Just add some nice earrings, make sure you're presentable and you're ready for your Zoom meeting.

You can wear your favourite sweatpants or even PJ bottoms, but when it comes to Zoom meetings, you’ve got to look spot-on from the waist up. That’s why we have put together a collection of beautifully comfortable and stylish jersey professional tops for work that are perfect for your home office style.
Embracing animal prints is a fun way to add texture and life to your wardrobe. When choosing the right print for you, select one that reflects your personality. From snake skin to zebra to big cat prints, there are animal prints for every aesthetic.
Prints are one of those cyclical trends that never really goes out of fashion. Many women are afraid of wearing animal prints because they think they are too loud, but there is a huge difference between “loud” and bold. Animal prints may be bold, but when worn correctly, they are never crass and loud.
If you’re new to wearing prints, it’s a good idea to start small. Maybe pair your print with a block colour for an equally subtle and stunning start. Once you have found the types of patterns that work for you, and make you feel as incredible as you look, you can really have some fun with matching patterns with bright colours, or even clashing prints!
We’re thrilled to be sharing our love of our scuba crepe material, a fabulous fabric that we’re using in our most sophisticated professional styles. The result is gorgeous style that looks chic and means business.
These are just some of the more obvious perks of this beautiful material. The face (right side) of the fabric has a textured or crimped finish very similar to a traditional wool crepe, which was one of the first fabrics used in traditional tailoring because of how beautifully it drapes but also moulds to the body.
‘Scuba’ relates to the smooth backside of the fabric, which gives the feeling of an already lined garment. Thanks to the material’s 4-way stretch, we can create beautifully tailored garments that wear with the ease and comfort of a classic jersey dress.
Our scuba crepe dresses and separates are made from a moisture-wicking fabric. This means that the material quickly moves (wicks) sweat to the fabric’s outer surface and then dries rapidly so that your sweat doesn’t saturate the fabric. As a result, your body can regulate its temperature efficiently and the fabric touching your skin has a dry, non-sticky feel.
Traditionally, tailored garments are more time-consuming to maintain, but this evolution of fabrics means that you can now easily wash and care for your clothing while maintaining a sleek professional finish. Just wash and wear — no ironing required.
Knowing how to winterise your dresses and how to style your favourite pieces for the cooler months is really important when it comes to investment pieces, and there are a few tricks of the trade when it comes to increasing your return on investment.
The dresses made from the heavy-weight ITY fabric are the warmer choice when it comes to winter dresses. The slinky dresses are best saved for spring/summer however if you really want to wear them, think of layering underneath with a slip for a touch of warmth. These dresses make great trans-seasonal pieces with just a bit of layering.
Layer your dresses with slips, camisoles and jackets. This is a great way to add warmth, even with the inbuilt lining adding another layer can really help. Our slips are made with the slinky base as so to reduce static and the dresses actually slink and glide over the slip. If you are experiencing static there are a few hacks that can help. You can use fabric softener, there are also anti-static sprays on the market and even hairspray will act as an anti-static film when sprayed onto stockings.
Opaque tights are an obvious no brainer and with the amazing selection of colours and Australian made styles available now it's a great way to add warmth and fun to your dresses.
Invest in a nice jacket that works well with your dresses. It's all about that fit in the back and the length, cropped length is better for paring with dresses. "Wear the jacket...don't let the jacket wear you". Something like our Odette jacket is a perfect example of the jacket length that best suits dresses. Also, lining in a jacket is great if you're looking for extra warmth. Getting your sleeves tailored on a great jacket can really make the jacket sit perfectly for you. If you're looking to add some fun, look into a selection of our Levis jackets, go bright and make it a statement piece!
Our amazing customers love our winter styles
Having a great selection of separates will really help to winterise your wardrobe. Think about adopting your trans-seasonal dresses, with the right selection of cardigans and jackets you just peel off the layers as needed throughout the day.

]]>Infinity scarves are a super stylish and versatile addition to your winter wardrobe. There are so many unique ways you can tie an infinity scarf and we are going to run you through our three favourites to get you inspired.
The no brainer way to wear the infinity scarf is just to wrap it round your neck twice and don't think about it too much. You can either wear it loose or pull one end tighter around your neck and have the long end flowing down the front of your outfit.
The knotted style is a great way to wear your scarf if you don't want to pull the scarf over your head and ruin your hair or make-up! Simply wrap the whole scarf doubled around your neck and pull one end through the other. This look is great with your heavy jackets too.
If you are wanting extra warmth and a more minimal look just wrap your infinity scarf around three times and feel cosy warm while looking sophisticated.
We are so excited to tell you about our new release of the Lise Infinity scarf. Made from a delicious soft viscose blend, and totally washable. Lise is available in two colours: Jade & Rose. Don't miss out, head to our New Release Page to get yours now.
You've booked your dream cruise and the countdown is on! But just what does a travel wardrobe look like for a holiday that has it all?
