We caught up with the wonderful Amanda Ramsay to chat about all things beauty and to get her hot tips on quick, fuss-free makeup ideas for women over 35. From the importance of prepping your skin to accessorising with lipstick, watch the video below for Amanda’s tips on how to add some sparkle to your life.
With so many of us juggling home and work life at the moment along with endless zoom meetings, creating an easy 5 step routine for your makeup will keep you looking fresh and put a bit of pep in your step.
1. PREP YOUR SKIN - CLEANSE, TONE, AND MOISTURISE.
Hydration is key to having your makeup last all day. Mist a hydrating toner over your face throughout the day to keep your makeup looking fresh.
Face oils are that little bit of luxury your skin needs right now. Massage over your face and decolletage to create a soft base for your makeup to sit on top of. If you prefer a creamy moisturiser, stick with that. And don’t forget your SPF!
Amanda recommends to use the Clemence Organics Tone + Hydrate Spritz, and the Mohi Everlasting Facial Elixir.
2. MAKE THOSE EYES POP! - CREAM SHADOW, MASCARA AND BROW GEL
Cream shadows work well as a base for your powder shadow or you can wear them alone. Blend up to your brow bone for a soft look.
Mascara should be applied from the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand as you coat the lash from root to tip. Applying from the base creates an illusion of wearing eyeliner. For extra lift and pizazz, curl your lashes before applying mascara.
Your eyebrows frame your face so we definitely don’t want to neglect them. So many of us have missed appointments with the esthetician and our brows may be looking a little worse for wear. Skip the pencil and use a brow product that has a gel base. It adds a temporary tint to your brows and creates definition whilst keeping the hairs in place.
Check out the Mii Eye Cream, Inika Long Lash Mascara, and Mii Sculpting Brow Builder used in the video.
3. GET THAT GLOW - FOUNDATION
Foundation is the key product for evening out skin tone and adding a soft dewy finish to your skin. If you prefer a lighter coverage, thin your foundation with a moisturiser or face oil. Apply a thin layer all over your face and then layer your foundation on areas where you want a little extra coverage. For a fuller all-over coverage, use a brush or sponge for application.
Amanda recommends to use the Rageism All Day Foundation with the Makeup Weapons Foundation Brush.
4. ADD A HEALTHY FLUSH - CREAM BLUSH
The majority of us can relate to the au naturale flushed-cheek look, but when you want to have a little more control over the colour of your cheeks opt for a cream blush. Cream blush blends beautifully into your skin so that the colour looks natural. Apply to either the apples of your cheeks or across your cheek bone.
Try the luxe Ere Perez Cream Blush recommended by Amanda.
5. PUCKER UP! - LIPSTICK AND GLOSS
Dab any extra cheek tint that’s on your fingers onto your lips for a soft pout. Accessorise with lipstick by adding some bold colour. Go boss-lady red or a bright summer coral. Add some shimmer with a gloss if that’s your kind of thing.
Amanda recommends to use the Rageism Lipgloss.
The key to doing your makeup in 10 minutes or less is having a few staple products that you can count on.
