    What is an Empire Line on a Dress?

    Featuring a bodice that finishes above the natural waistline, just under the bust, an empire line dress is great for camouflaging fuller tummies making it a great dress shape for apple shaped women, plus sizes and fuller-figure women. 

    Because empire line dress bodices sit high, the extra fabric above the waist creates the illusion of a longer, taller silhouette, and consequently a slimming effect. At L&F, we maximise this effect with our empire line maxi dresses but the fullness of our midi-length skirts create figure-flattering empire line dress styles too, that also work for petite height women.
